Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
Psalms 42:5
Lord, Our God, we long to see you more in this world. We hunger and thirst for you. We long to see your hand move among the nations, and we desire to come into your presence in intimacy with you.
We are sad that we don’t see more people coming to you. We find a growing frustration at not being able to gather together in worship. We see division and arguments all around, evidence of the broken relationships in a fallen world.
But we long for the time when things will be changed. We long for the time when restoration will take place. We long for the full realization of your kingdom in this world, and the return of Yeshua as King.
Lord, increase in us a gift of faith, to trust and believe that you are working at this time.
Give us an increase of hope, as we remind ourselves that You Lord are in control and that your plans and purposes are not being hindered.
And let our love increase, Lord, as we draw closer to you at this time. Please help us to express ourselves honestly before you and so grow in our intimacy with you.
Lord, God, we choose to praise you and thank you for your Word tells us we should do that in all situations.
When we feel the weight of concern, anxiety and insecurity, this season brings, when our hearts get overwhelmed with sadness and discouragement. We choose to turn to you and praise you, Lord Jesus, our saviour and Lord of all.
In you, we put our hope and our trust. You have promised never to leave us or forsake us. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, the faithful one. Amen.
